D-FY-IT of Midland holds several different events throughout the year. For those youth who are interested in becoming leaders in the community, we have "Teens In Charge". It is this group that helps coordinate many of the annual events. September 2007 begins the monthly meetings to plan and carry out the community activities and events October Teens in Charge will attend a R.O.P.E.S. Course that will push their endurance and team leading skills. D-FY-IT will host the 4th annual Red Ribbon Run on Saturday, October 20th. It is a Half Marathon, 5K and 1K October also holds the Friendship Marker activity and trips to the elementary schools November there will be a Junior High lock-in at Mr. Gatti's. Flyers will be sent home with 7th and 8th grade students. December community project - to be determined at camp. December 31, 2007 - DFYIT joins the PDAP staff hosting the second annual New Years Eve, drug and alcohol free, family event. Location Midland Center, times: 6:00 p.m. to Midnight. Admission is free! February
2008 there will be the
second Junior High Lock-in held at
Hollywood Theatres.
Flyers will be sent home with 7th and 8th grade students for this activity as
well. March 2008 and April -Spring activity to be announced May 2008 is the volunteer appreciation luncheon. This luncheon is to celebrate the dedicated adult volunteers who work with D-FY-IT throughout the school year during testing and other activities. June 2008 - Teens in Charge will attend a leadership camp for drug and alcohol prevention community planning.
