Community News:

D-FY-IT is a prevention program for youth 7th through 12th grade. There are other programs in Midland that encourage prevention of underage drinking and drugging.

As of July 1st, 2007, D-FY-IT became a program of PDAP: Palmer Drug Abuse Program. This merger will offer many new opportunities for D-FY-IT to make a bigger difference in our community. The Midland Coalition, another program of PDAP, is dedicated to changing laws making it harder for youth to purchase alcohol. This is only one of the many opportunities D-FY-IT members will be able to be involved. D-FY-IT will continue to do the random drug testing on each Midland County campus, host the Red Ribbon activities during Red Ribbon Week in October, host the Mr. Gatti's Lock-in and the Hollywood Theatre Lock-in, the Red Ribbon Run: Half Marathon, 5K, and 1K event.

There will be many more opportunities as the two programs begin on this new path and discover the power that drives focused goal oriented people for the betterment of the Midland Community.

Please contact Mitchell Moore, executive director for PDAP at 432-685-3645 if you have any questions.

D-FY-IT is a voluntary program for youth to learn leadership skills and assist their peers to stay drug and alcohol free. The community and merchants offer discounts and incentives for those youth who participate in staying drug free.

D-FY-IT is offered to those youth in grades 7th through 12th who attend an accredited school, public, private, or home school.

Our Mission

To inspire the youth of the Midland community to lead substance free lives by making healthy life choices.

Company Profile

D-FY-IT provides a confidential avenue for youth to voluntarily stay drug free with incentives and activities.

D-FY-IT works closely with school counselors and parents if a problem is identified.

Parents have asked D-FY-IT for additional information regarding drug testing and identification signs that their child may be using alcohol or drugs. D-FY-IT is a program that can offer this information as well as referrals to organizations that can help if a problem exists. D-FY-IT is also a deterrent for youth to engage in alcohol or drug use, focusing on prevention.

Cassie Dresel, Program Director, has been with D-FY-IT for 5 years. Her focus is on Board Development, Community Awareness, and Fundraising. Raising the community's awareness of prevention methods and D-FY-IT as a great resource is accomplished through speaking engagements offered to businesses and local special interest groups.

Paula Cannon, Associate Program Director, is the Teens In Charge Coordinator. Having been to a Leadership camp with our Teens in Charge youth this summer, she has returned with great great ideas, that they both Paula and the Teens In Charge are excited and eager to begin. With her flexibility and "can-do" attitude as well as her passion for the kids and volunteers, this year promises to be full of excitement!

Sunny Whitsell, Volunteer and testing coordinator, she has a great understanding of the youth and their parents having worked in the MISD school system for over 21 years. She is willing to jump in and help when ever needed, and her bright attitude make her a perfect fit.

D-FY-IT is a member of the Non-Profit Management Center, Permian Basin Advertising Association, and American Volunteer Association.

Recently having visited with a college freshman who was a D-FY-IT member when she was in high school, she told me she is starting an alcohol awareness group on her college campus. "Without the guidance, encouragement and leadership skill I learned with D-FY-IT, I would not have begun such a program". - Kenzi
